2019 Instructor Training Grants for Physical Activity Programs

NRPA, with the support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is offering local park and recreation agencies across the country, Instructor Training Grants for Physical Activity Programs, to train staff as instructors to implement evidence-base physical activity programs that are designed to help people with a variety of chronic diseases to manage their conditions through physical activity engagement and health education. These programs are popular among older adults of all abilities. These programs can attract new audiences to your agency, provide opportunities for community partnerships, and improve the health and wellness of your community.

NRPA Education online learning content is accessible for 180 days from the date of your registration. The learning content is available for registration for one year from the date of origination.

Program Manager, National Recreation and Park Association

Lesha Spencer-Brown is a Health and Wellness Program Manager at the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), working to improve the health and wellness of older adults through parks and recreation for the past year. She currently manages NRPA's Health Aging in Parks initiative that aims to increase physical activity opportunities for older adults, primarily through dissemination of evidence-based programs, community and social engagement opportunities and built environment enhancements that support active lifestyles among older adults. Lesha received her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Community and Family Health- Socio-Health Sciences from the University of South Florida, and has over 8 years of experience in the field of public health, specifically in health promotion, disease prevention and social determinants of health.
