Matt Brubaker has been with NRPA since 2013 and is currently the Director of Marketing. Matt is responsible for managing NRPA’s brand and visual identity, developing and implementing short-term and long-term strategic marketing campaigns, raising awareness for NRPA’s professional offerings and working in tandem with NRPA’s award-winning marketing, communications and magazine team. He manages the promotion of NRPA’s Annual Conference, membership recruitment, professional development, certification, research and other initiatives. Matt is also an avid outdoorsman, dog lover and a proud Hokie.
Senior Communications Manager, National Recreation and Park Association
Roxanne Sutton is the Senior Manager of Communications at the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). Her responsibilities include overseeing social media strategy and content development and promoting the award-winning work of our partnerships and business development team. She is also the host of NRPA’s podcast, Open Space Radio. In her role, Roxanne is fortunate to communicate and work directly with many NRPA members to promote new opportunities and showcase the great work local parks and recreation are doing in their communities. Prior to her role at NRPA, she worked at a PR firm in D.C. on a multitude of accounts ranging from energy clients to non-profits. She graduated with honors and recognition from George Mason University with her bachelors in Communication specializing in Public Relations. She was a member of Lambda Pi Eta and recipient of the Excellence in Communication Award.
Katie Groke Ellis
Director of Marketing, Communications and Community Outreach, Apex Park and Recreation District
Katie Groke Ellis is currently the Director of Marketing, Communications and Community Outreach at the Apex Park and Recreation District. Previously, she was a Senior Associate at SE2 and Director of Communications and Marketing for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado. She is the former National Program Manager at The White House Project and has a background in recruiting and training women to run for office, managing comprehensive communications campaigns and organizing the community to take action. A graduate of the University of Wyoming where she played on a soccer scholarship, Katie has worked with the NCAA, Choice USA, Springboard Enterprises and Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. Katie has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. Katie also sits on the Board of Directors for the Arvada West High School Foundation, the Arvada Vitality Alliance and the Arvada Chamber of Commerce.
