An overview of the ten sections required in the CAPRA Pre-Assessment Report, which must be completed and approved by a CRT Advisor before any agency advances to Self-Assessment. It covers general historical information; source of authority; approving authority and governing body; delegation of authority; agency leadership; jurisdiction; organizational structure; agency awards and citations; changes since last accreditation; and the periodic timetable for document review. Select the "View On-Demand Recording" button to begin. This training session provides an overview of the 2027 CAPRA Accreditation Standards Chapter 2 — Administration and Organizational Resources. The session is focused on the administrative systems, organizational practices, and operational resources necessary to support an effective and sustainable parks and recreation agency. Chapter emphasizes the role of collaboration, technology, accessibility, records retention, emergency preparedness, and community partnerships in supporting overall agency effectiveness and CAPRA compliance. This training reviews each standard within the chapter, discusses the intent of each standard, required Evidence of Compliance (EOC), and the importance of maintaining organized documentation, clear procedures, and operational accountability.

2027 CAPRA Standards Chapter 5: Financial Management, Responsibility and Accountability

Select the "View On-Demand Recording" button to begin. Chapter 5 is the backbone of an agency’s fiscal integrity. It ensures an organization is managing public funds responsibly, transparently, and in alignment with community needs. In this chapter, there are 10 standards of which 8 are Fundamental. This chapter discusses how to establish sound fiscal policies and internal controls. It also ensures that an agency’s budget is linked to strategic objectives. Financial management should be accomplished by maintaining transparency and responsibility while ensuring financial stability and ethical stewardship to achieve predetermined organizational goals and objectives.

The session focuses on the agency’s responsibilities related to the planning, development, maintenance, stewardship, and operational management of parks, recreation facilities, land, natural resources, and supporting infrastructure. Chapter 7 emphasizes the agency’s responsibility to effectively manage public assets through long-range planning, preventative maintenance practices, lifecycle asset management, safety inspections, operational standards, and environmental stewardship.

2027 CAPRA Standards Chapter 9: Marketing, Communications and Community Engagement

The functions overlap because they all deal with an organization’s relationships and employ similar communication tools. This overview will cover the required evidence of compliance for each of the six standards as well as provide guidance on the agency addressing the required rubric questions.

Evaluation, assessment or performance measurement, and research are systematic processes that park and recreation professionals use to better understand the impacts of their efforts on the communities they serve. These measurements also help the agency to compete successfully for external and internal resources, including monies for capital improvements and new programs, and for solicitation of corporate and foundation funding. Chapter 10 is designed to ensure the agency is able to not only measure data but use that data in decision making as well. This overview will cover the required evidence of compliance for each of the six standards as well as provide guidance on the agency addressing the required rubric questions.
