Do you have a question you would like to answer about your programs but are unsure how to collect the data you need? Complete this two-hour, hands-on, interactive clinic to learn about collecting data for park and recreation program evaluation. Leave this course with a deeper understanding of a variety of options for data collection and best practices on how to collect data effectively. Using a program from your agency for context, you will design a data collection tool and grow the knowledge and confidence to use the tool to collect useful data for your park and recreation programs.
During the clinic, read and listen to topical information, participate in thought and application exercises, engage in small and large group discussions and share-outs, and join in the feedback exchange between peers and instructors. Activities will walk through course topics such as choosing the right data collection method(s) for program evaluation, designing effective surveys and/or interview/focus groups, recruiting participants, and overcoming common data collection challenges. After participating, maintain access to all materials reviewed and created during the session to use when collecting in the field. Please note that because this is an interactive session, it will not be available on-demand after the scheduled event.
By the end of this event, learners will have:
- Selected the data collection method(s) most applicable to their program.
- Created a draft data collection tool.
- Drafted a data collection plan that includes the who, what, where, when, why and how they will collect and analyze their program evaluation data.
