This webinar focuses on how park and recreation professionals can partner with local shelters to successfully identify, process, hire and supervise people in their community experiencing homelessness. In Boise, Idaho, the parks and recreation department hires individuals from the Interfaith Sanctuary shelter.  This groundbreaking work program, now entering its third year, has been very successful with numerous participants graduating into seasonal roles with the department. Former Interfaith Sanctuary guests have moved into their own apartments and purchased homes and vehicles as a result of the opportunity provided through the program. Doug Holloway, director of Boise Parks and Recreation, outlines how you can start a similar program while discussing some of the challenges and success stories that have made this program a model for other cities across the country.
