The BUZZ Effect of Pop-up Programming

Programming can get stuck in a cycle and become boring. This session will explore creative, fun program ideas you can take back with you to make your community fall in love with your department. We will look at ways to stay current and effective, through the use of social media, by providing “pop-up” programs that create a buzz! These refreshingly simple ideas will build community support, foster quality family time and strengthen your organizational brand. The ideas presented can all be done in a single day with little or no cost.


Learning Objective: 

Develop the skills and abilities that will put you on a path to provide little or no cost community events that promote increased family time.

Brendan has been with the Burlington (MA) Parks & Recreation Department for 15 years and the director for the past 5 years. During his time as director they have re-positioned the department, strengthened community support and built their organizational brand. This has not always been easy, but they have found creative, cost effective ways to accomplish this.
