February Premier: Cultivating Leadership Excellence

The topic will focus on cultivating Leadership Excellence. Attendees will explore a transformative journey of leadership; gaining insights into challenges, lessons, and strategies for effective leadership. 

In this session we will discover Park and Recreations' importance in community well-being. We will explore hurdles and address usual challenges in Parks and Recreation, highlighting how they contribute to leadership growth. We also will outline practical strategies to help hone leadership skills. 

Attendees will also discuss adaptability and proactive change leadership and examine the delicate balance in meeting diverse stakeholder expectations and navigating competing demands while maintaining focus on overarching goals. 

Finally, we will explore mentorship's role and the importance of succession planning for continuous effective leadership and encourage attendees' reflection on their personal leadership journeys and growth opportunities.

Goal: Inspire, inform, and equip Parks and Recreation professionals for successful leadership paths.

Keshia Randle

Superintendent

City of Dallas Park and Recreation

Keshia is a Park and Recreation professional with more than 20 years of Non-profit, Corporate Wellness and Municipal Recreation experience. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Education with an emphasis in Health, Sports, and Exercise Science and holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Sports and Entertainment Management.

Keshia has served in various leadership roles for local organizations including Texas Instruments, the YWCA, the cities of Lancaster, DeSoto and Rowlett, Texas and currently serves as a Superintendent the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Department. This past year she served as the Co-chair of the 2023 National Recreation and Park Association Conference’s Local Host Committee.

Mrs. Randle has an extensive background in strategic planning, staff development and project management and is excited to share practical knowledge with her Park and Recreation colleagues.
