May Premier: Building Blocks for Summer: Strategies for Youth Engagement

Join us for an engaging learning event dedicated to planning summer programs with a strong focus on youth development. This event will feature members of NRPA's Youth Development Team, who will showcase NRPA's valuable resources in youth mentoring, youth sports, and workforce development. These resources can be seamlessly adapted and integrated into your summer programming to foster youth development. 

Moreover, the event will highlight park and recreation professionals who are effectively utilizing these tools to create impactful summer programs in their communities. During the webinar, NRPA's Youth Development Team will provide comprehensive information about these resources, designed to support positive youth development and growth nationwide. By attending this valuable session, you can ensure that all youth in your community have access to programs that enhance their overall health and well-being. 

Learning Objectives: 

1. Attendees will collect key resources and tools for planning effective summer youth programs. 

2. Attendees will examine how peer park and recreation professionals successfully implement youth mentoring, youth sports, and workforce development programs during the summer months. 

3. Attendees will develop actionable strategies to integrate youth mentoring, sports, and workforce development initiatives into summer programming to maximize positive impact for youth.

Cina Makres

Program Specialist

National Recreation and Park Association

Cina Makres is a Program Specialist with the National Recreation and Park Association. Currently, Cina supports NRPA grantees and provides technical assistance within the organization's youth mentoring and physical activity portfolios. Cina also manages NRPA's Family Health & Fitness Day campaign efforts to ensure that park and recreation professionals have the tools and resources needed to promote healthy living in their local communities.

Prior to joining NRPA, Cina completed her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of Maryland. Cina has previous experience working with maternal health, global health, and physical activity and nutrition.
