Shannon Coates

Shannon Coates is a dynamic educator, accomplished businesswoman, and seasoned parks and recreation professional with a passion for empowering organizations through the transformative power of play. A Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE), she is also a published author and a nationally and internationally recognized speaker.

Shannon brings a unique blend of expertise, combining decades of experience in parks and recreation with a certified Black Belt in LEAN methodology. Her research and professional interests center around the impact of play on leadership development, the science of storytelling, and the therapeutic value of equine-facilitated psychotherapy.

She holds a BA in Elementary Education from Transylvania University, an MBA from the University of Central Florida, and a PhD in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Research and Evaluation Methods from the University of Florida.
